British University Vietnam (BUV) is the first and only international university in Vietnam to directly award British degrees from the prestigious University of London and Staffordshire University. The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses at British University Vietnam (BUV) prepare students for success in their degree studies through the development of academic language, and research and study skills.

The Division Lead, EAP will be responsible for leading, developing and managing the courses, ensuring high quality teaching, successful learning outcomes, and an outstanding student experience. This position provides an exciting opportunity to use both professional expertise and creativity to develop innovative courses that support student success. Liaising with key stakeholders, the postholder will ensure an inclusive, integrated approach to English language and academic skills provision through strong pedagogical methodologies and delivery methods.


  • Ensure the effective and efficient planning and management of human and physical resources including timetabling to ensure successful development and delivery of the EAP Programme.
  • Ensure excellence in all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment of students in the EAP courses through monitoring of teacher performance, student progress and student evaluation and feedback to ensure the continuous improvement of the courses.
  • Provide effective leadership and line management of Teaching Fellows and administrative staff working on the EAP programme, as required, to ensure high standards of performance.
  • Develop, build, and maintain strong working relationships with key University stakeholders including academic departments, other Professional Services, Students Recruitment and Admissions teams.
  • Support new business development opportunities for the EAP Programme.
  • Contribute high quality curriculum and materials development, teaching, assessment, and lesson observation to the EAP Programme.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of marketing, publicity and communications for the EAP programme to ensure alignment with institution-wide marketing.


COMPETENCIES (knowledge, skills, and abilities)


  • Masters degree (or higher) in Applied Linguistics/TESOL related field and/or a DELTA and have extensive experience of EAP programme leadership.
  • Be an outstanding EAP teacher with a proven record of excellence in leading and developing high-quality EAP programmes in Higher Education.
  • Experience in contributing to the design, development, and implementation of new programmes.
  • Experience of managing, coaching, and developing staff.
  • Demonstrate highly effective management, communication, planning and team leadership skills.
  • Enjoy leading teams as well as working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Be creative and pro-active with an ability to think and plan strategically as well as managing operationally.


  • Able to demonstrate innovative engagement in, and leadership of, Technology Enhanced Language Learning
