Early Years Assistant

Kyoto International School is looking for an Early Years Assistant to join our team of experienced international educators. The role of the Early Years Assistant is to facilitate student learning and to help with the many practical tasks that support student wellbeing.

Kyoto International School is looking for an Early Years Assistant to join our team of experienced international educators. The Early Years class is a multi-age class with Pre-K and Kindergarten students from 4 to 6 years old. KIS is an IB Primary Years Programme school and in the Early Years class, students learn through a process of inquiry. In EY lessons, play based learning activities enable students to develop conceptual learning and skills. Learning at KIS is active, creative and fun. The role of the Early Years Assistant is to facilitate student learning and to help with the many practical tasks that support student wellbeing.

Start Date: April 1, 2024

Person Description

As a KIS assistant, you will:

Help to create inspiring, challenging and engaging learning opportunities for all students
Be sensitive to the needs of young children
Be very aware of health and safety issues
Have a deep understanding of early childhood development
Collaborate with the early years class teacher and other subject teachers
Encourage an inquiry based approach to learning, supporting student agency and independence
Communicate with parents about student learning and wellbeing

Essential

Bilingual English / Japanese speaker
Hoikushi (保育士)qualification
Experience of working in a kindergarten
Adaptable team player

Desirable

Experience in an international kindergarten, or international school
Knowledge of the IB PYP (International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme).
