Summer Camp Counselor and/or Teacher (In-person, Temporary, Part-time)

Job Summary:

Join us as a Camp Counselor for our thrilling summer camps! Our camps are filled with adventure and fun activities, providing an unforgettable experience for kids. Dive into an unforgettable summer by teaching kids programming, design, and robotics while enjoying exciting outdoor activities such as waterparks, canoeing, white water rafting, and hiking. Top off the evenings with movie nights, Minecraft competitions, and more!

The summer camp season includes the following sessions:

Tokyo Summer Camps:
-Session 1: June 17 to June 21
-Session 2: July 8 to July 12
-Session 3: August 12 to August 16
-Session 4: August 19 to August 23

Gunma Summer Camps:
-Session 1: June 23 to June 27
-Session 2: June 30 to July 4
-Session 3: August 4 to August 8

Iwate Summer Camps:
-Session 1: July 14 to July 18
-Session 2: July 21 to July 25

Hakuba Summer Camp:
-Session 1: July 28 to August 1

What you will work on as a Camp Counselor:

-Lead/assist STEM lessons in programming/robotics/design for students aged 5 to 12, with a commitment to making them engaging and accessible to all skill levels. Depending on your technical expertise, you may either lead or assist in these lessons.
-Oversee general camp activities, ensuring each day runs smoothly and all camp rules are followed to maintain a safe, respectful environment for our young learners.
-Engage with students during dynamic outdoor activities such as waterparks, canoeing, white water rafting, and hiking, helping to create unforgettable summer experiences.
-Participate in and support evening entertainment like movie nights and Minecraft competitions, encouraging a sense of community and camaraderie among campers.
-Monitor campers to ensure adherence to camp guidelines and proactively address any disruptive behavior, maintaining a positive camp atmosphere.
-Commit to learning and executing all emergency procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of all camp participants.
-Report to the head counselor and/or the camp management team, working collaboratively to deliver a top-tier camp experience.

Our ideal candidate has:

-A Bachelor’s degree or in the process of obtaining one
-Prior experience working at camps, primary/elementary schools, or specific activities involving children (would be an advantage)
-Prior teaching experience in computer science/programming either at a school, a learning center, after school, or another educational institution (would be an advantage)
-Physical ability to participate in activities: run, climb, swim, lift, or support weight of children
-Ability to pass background check, physical, and proof of immunizations
-High level of responsibility and accountability
-Strong communication and collaboration skills
-First Aid, CPR, and related training certifications (would be an advantage)
-Bilingual language abilities in English and Japanese (would be an advantage)

Work hours:

-Gunma and Iwate sessions: 5 days, 4 nights
